Ink – tattoos skin memories

With eyes sensitive to both time and human nature, photographer Björn Abelin and writer Elisabeth Åsbrink have met tattooed people in our midst. Under the skin are their stories of sadness and loss, but also of the tattoo as jewelry or a call to the world of desire and joy in facing life.

Someone does it to fit in with a group, while someone else wants to protest against the general prevailing order. The question is perhaps not why you get a tattoo, but why not?

INK is a collaboration between photographer Björn Abelin (image) and Elisabeth Åsbrink (text).
